Our collaboration with the International Association of Coaching (IAC) underscores our dedication to global standards in coaching, a commitment exemplified by our founder and Managing Director’s leadership as the former president of the IAC Sri Lanka chapter, positioning APMI as a pioneer in bringing these standards to the local arena.
The institute’s influence is further amplified through partnerships with vital governmental bodies such as the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Fisheries, and various other ministries and departments.
APMI plays a vital role in knowledge sharing by collaborating with many state and private universities, developing study programs, and offering visiting lecturers.
These partnerships allow APMI to make significant contributions to national development by applying our expertise to address critical public sector needs and opportunities.
At the international level, APMI has forged productive relationships with the Professional Business Coaches’ Association (PBCA), TeamCoach International (Malaysia), and the Civil Service Training Institute, Maldives.

Chandani Kanthi Basnayake

Founder/ Managing Director – Asia Pacific Management Institute
Ms. Chandani Kanthi Basnayake serves as the Managing Director of the Asia Pacific Management Institute (APMI), where she is a driving force in transformative learning. Her focus is on developing and enhancing the knowledge, skills, and capacities of youth, professionals, employees, and tertiary education students. Her collaborative reach extends internationally, with active engagement with training institutes in the Maldives, India, New Zealand, and Malaysia.
A pioneering Certified Professional Coach (CPC) in Sri Lanka, accredited by Federation University, Australia (2018), Ms. Basnayake leverages her coaching expertise to empower individuals and teams. Guided by a strong humanitarian commitment, she provides pro bono coaching to support the well-being of victims of domestic violence, epidemics, and disasters. Furthermore, she is a vocal advocate against harassment, with a specific focus on child protection.
Ms. Basnayake contributes significantly to academia as a visiting lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Colombo, and numerous public and private sector training institutions, including the University of Canterbury, the International Institute of Hospitality Management, the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), and the MILODA Academy of Financial Studies in Sri Lanka. Her dedication to academic excellence is further evidenced by her service on various private sector academic boards.
Her impactful contributions have been recognized with prestigious accolades, including being named a Top Women Leader in Sri Lanka by the World Human Resource Congress in 2018 for her work in human resource capacity development and training. In 2022, she received the Authentic Leader award from the same institute for her pioneering role in introducing coaching and mentoring as essential management tools across organizations.
As the immediate past president of the Sri Lanka Chapter of the International Association of Coaching (IAC), Ms. Basnayake remains deeply committed to implementing transformational coaching and mentoring strategies to optimize employee performance within both public and private sector organizations.
Beyond her professional roles, Ms. Basnayake is a published author and poet, with numerous poems and two insightful books: "You and Your Success" (Books 1 and 2) and "The Art of Decision Making with Indian Folk Stories." Her diverse talents and unwavering dedication position Ms. Chandani Kanthi Basnayake as a significant asset to organizations and individuals seeking growth and development
